We want to embed some of our videos in our articles. Found the following article but having difficulties:

Currently using Wista for storing our videos. I click on Embed Media, next it ask for the URL. I copy and paste the “Public Link for Sharing” from Wista and get this error message within Insided:

Also, we tried to use the Embed Code that Wista provides. But it displays very small and is not a video. We currently use the Embed code when creating are articles in Zendesk.

Is there another way to embed videos from Wista? Or am i missing something?

Hi @Hannah Bailey!

The embedding tool we use for posts is Embedly: https://embed.ly/providers

I do see Wistia is a provider so I believe this should work but we can look into it more!

Lets try a few things first:

  1. I would suggest trying the solution provided below on Wistia’s troubleshooting page: https://wistia.com/support/embed-and-share/embed-troubleshooting If you scroll down a bit, there’s a section with the same error code and that leads to domain restrictions.
  2. If this doesn’t work, can you test another video from Wistia. Maybe the problem is limited to the first video.
  3. If neither work, can you please reach out to us at support@insided.com and please provide the Wistia’s embed link/code, so we can see if its valid or not.

Sincerely,

Ravi

Hi, we use Wistia and it works fine for us. However, there’s an odd quirk: don’t use the embed code, just drop in the URL.

When I use the embed code, it doesn’t work. But pasting the video URL auto-embeds the video based on what Insided has setup.

We are going to get our communities domain whitelist when we go live with Wista. Hopefully that works.

@DannyPancratz - i tried your solution and it still does not work for me. I copied the URL and pasted it in the article… it only shows the link to the Wista video. It does not embed the video.

@ravi.kurma

We are currently not live yet. We have whitelisted our community's domain with Wista. But it is not working still.

Do we have to whitelist our current domain (since we arent live) “https://incidentiq-en-community.insided.com/” For it to work before we go live?

Hi @Hannah Bailey!

I took a look at your staging / production community. The post you linked above is your production and there are no articles that I can see that are testing embedding. I do see in your staging community (almostinsided) has an article testing embedding. Could it be you whitelisted the production and not the staging? You can either test on the production site or whitelist both!

Sincerely,

Ravi

Hey @ravi.kurma

We have a draft in production for testing to embed the videos: https://incidentiq-en.insided.com/draft/91
