If I want to analyze* certain topic and it´s posts, one option would be if I export topic and it´s posts to the excel. But it seems it isnt possible?

Is there any workarounds for this kind of usecase?

*= tone, pick up ideas/feedbacks etc.

Jumping in here (hopefully migrating our Salesforce community to Gainsight CC later this year).

@kstim, thoughts on whether this is something we’d be able to build out during the implementation process? If we’re migrating x number of recent posts, going through and tagging them manually would probably be a mind-numbing nightmare, but being able to export them during the process to a CSV/Google sheet could be useful.

@Kenneth R, any insight on how we might be able to extract post content during the migration process? It’d be very useful to analyze our existing content to come up with a standard set of tags for net-new posts.

@dayn.johnson As Kenneth alluded to, we may be able to use Zapier for this!

@kstim how many posts are you looking to migrate from Salesforce Community? I have migrated to and from Salesforce Community before. 50,000+ posts. If you have a lot of content to move, Zapier won’t handle those numbers cheaply or quickly. You may want to look at an ETL product to do this.

You may also need to do a bit of HTML modification. Moving to Salesforce was super tricky due to Salesforce’s limitations. But I have a feeling that you may experience some quirks taking what Salesforce has stored and moving it here. However, I’ve not gone from Salesforce to Gainsight, so that is just something to keep in mind.

@rhall Thanks for sharing this, I wasn’t aware! I am not sure how many posts we’d be migrating, but we also do have access to an ETL tool that might be better suited for this type of task.

Thank you @rhall! I’m not sure how many posts, but I somehow doubt it’ll approach the thousands. Most likely in the 10’s or 100’s. The vast majority of our community posts are webinar notifications, so I don’t think it’d make sense to bring over a huge backlog of that kind of content.

@kstim, I’ll keep this in mind when we start planning our migration. My thought upon seeing this thread was that this would be a good way to standardize our tagging in CC so we don’t have confusion.

@dayn.johnson 10s or 100s of posts you’ll probably be OK with Zapier….but if you have an ETL tool, you may find it easier to do it with that. An ETL tool usually comes with a team of people who specialise in using it. So they can join the dots for you 😉
