🌐 Two tools for analyzing your community data with AI (a starting point)
If you've been following our AEO Unplugged series, you know we've been thinking about how community content gets picked up by AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude. A few of you asked for something practical to try yourselves. We built two Claude skills to do exactly that.
These are starter tools, not finished products. The outputs are meant to give you a sample of what's possible. We expect you'll read the results, adjust the instructions, and make them your own.
🔧 What is a Claude skill?
A skill is a reusable instruction set that tells Claude how to approach a specific task. You load it into a Claude conversation alongside your data, and Claude follows the instructions to produce a structured output. You can inspect the instructions, modify them, and improve them over time. Both skills are attached to this post.
🔍 Skill 1: AEO Readiness Analyst
Upload your Gainsight community topic export CSV and this skill produces a structured health briefing: answer rate, tag coverage, content freshness, and a short action list. If you also upload a mark-as-answer export, it adds time-to-resolution data. Every section is written to answer the same question: what can I actually do with this today?
🔗 Skill 2: AEO Citation Tester
This skill reads your topic export and generates the natural-language questions real users are typing into AI tools, based on your actual community content. It then runs those prompts as web searches and checks whether your community shows up in results.
One thing worth knowing before you try it: the citation score is a directional signal, not a precise measurement. The skill uses web search results as a proxy for AI retrieval, which isn't the same as querying Claude or ChatGPT directly. The more useful output is the prompt list, which shows you what your content looks like through an AI user's lens.
💻 What you'll need
Both skills require a Claude Pro subscription ($20/month). The free tier doesn't support the file uploads and extended context these analyses depend on. You'll also need a topic export from your community admin panel, and for the first skill, optionally a mark-as-answer export.
🔨 How to use them
- Open the attached zip file and download the skills
- Load the skill file into a Claude conversation
- Attach your export into Claude
- Follow the prompts in Claude
The outputs reflect your data, but the thresholds, action logic, and prompt style are all adjustable. If your community structure looks different from what the skill expects, edit the instructions to match.
