Hi @Thomas Deely  do you mean the product update? Or announcements in general?

More focussed on product announcements in general, broader context is we are looking for ways to make it easier to disseminate high velocity roadmap to customers, in a digestible form.

To my knowledge, you cannot subscribe to KBs or Product Updates. Users cannot get notified when something new is published and because of this, we don’t use it.

We are forced to use regular community forums as a result.

@mitchell.gordon There’s a Subscribe button on the Product Updates page, so customers can get notified. We rebranded that page to ‘News’ but ended up posting mainly Release Notifications anyway.

We're currently implementing Customer Communities (CC) and are exploring the best way to set up a space for Announcements. I noticed that Sonos's community appears to use their Product Updates page for Announcements, which allows members to subscribe — and that seems like a good approach.

I'd love to set up our Announcements page the same way, allowing members to subscribe. Has anyone taken a different approach that's worked well? Would love to hear how others have set this up.

Example:

We implemented Gainsight early this year and out communty is now live for roughly 5 months.
One of the aspects for our community is also product communictions but….

  • Our roadmap and product feedback are not in Gainsight (not my decision) but in Productboard and we have an integration between the 2. So, if customer still leave feedback or input in the Community we can easily get it in Gainsight as well.
  • We have a documentation portal outside of Gainsight as well
  • We also have a releasenotes page, outside of Gainsight as well

then you might think, where do we use Gainsight Community for then… to talk about the new feature releases with out customers. So we use the product update to explain more about certain features we release (not everything as some things are just too small and not worth mentioning there but only on release notes) and to have conversations with customers about those new features. Ask for experiences which in return we can use in customer marketing (and product marketing) as well. In these product updates we often also refer to our documentation portal for the more set-up details/manuals etc.

We stimulate our members to at least sign up / subscribe to the product updates on the Community so that they are always aware when we do a big release and what it's about.

Next to that we also do product release announcements in our news & announcement channel in which we refer to the product updates. And the announcement I will typically put on the Community home as featured content for a few weeks so that as many people can see it.

And for the upcoming product release we are not only doing an release announcement we are also doing a sort of ‘collectors’ post on everything we released on AI and this is a post that we will update continuously when we release more new AI features so that for customers it's also easier to find everything available about AI and we promote customer to sign up for this post so that they will get notifications if we update the post as well/comment on it again.

I hope this helps if you ever want to know more, let me know!
