Is flagging a post supposed to remove it?

We’ve had an influx of spam lately. I’ve got lots of people flagging the posts that get through as spam. If someone flags a post as spam, shouldn’t it be removed from the community until a moderator reviews it?

Does flagging do anything on the front end? Or does it just put it in my spam queue in the mod console?

Flagging currently only does what the name says, it flags a piece of content to be reviewed by a moderator in the Control Panel. No further action is being taken. It stays live and will still be visible for as long as no moderator checks and removes it.

There is an active idea regarding that:

Apparently I’ve been down this path before, as I’ve already voted for the idea. Thank you!
