Is there a way to direct new users right to the ‘create your account’ area instead of having them go to the Community url then click ‘Join or login’?

I do not remember an example myself, maybe
You could probably adjust e.g. the background color / add an image there, maybe even more. However all of this would have to be done by adding custom CSS and then targeting this page (via url) to execute this script.
