Language Translation for Control and Community Users

Hi y’all!

I will be leading a global community and want to publish several languages. There are 2 things I’m not finding in the documentation:

  1. How to monitor and moderate posts in my non-native language.
  2. Can clients with different languages engage in the same post? Meaning: If a post is in Portuguese, is it automatically translated when an English-speaking member views it?

 

Any clarification on how to do these things, or best practices if you have found workarounds, would be appreciated! Thank you!

      Hello Matt! Ill try and answer this the best I can.

      There is a capability in your instance to write specific code based on language. The language you are changing the code for can be seen EN-US is the example here.
       

      Moderating additional languages can be very hard. Your AI moderator should really help here based on your terms and conditions you give it. I usually google search comments like this to get a translation or go to the post itself and translate the post.

      Yes, individuals can go back and forth in different languages in a community. There is an option to translate everything on the page into a specific language. There is Google Chrome that can do this or a Gainsight functionality you can enable that will translate posts into a desired language. It will translate the entire post into the language selected by the user.

      Funny enough, I see the “translate” option at the bottom of your comment so I can see what that would look like for our users

      This is a paid feature in GS I believe but connecting with your CS or Rep might be a great next step if you like the testing on the GS platform!

          I run a global community as well. Now it's still in Dutch and English and end of October we expect to be ready to add German as well. We really love the AI translate feature as it now makes all our content available in several languages and not only the post but also the replies and it enables people to also reply in their native language. 

          What I am missing is the locallization of for instance of system emails etc those are now only in English while I would prefer to be able to offer them in the languages we host our community in. 

          In the moderation / controle center I do miss something like AI translate, but if I run into such an issue, I just go the the view of the members, and use AI translate there and answer a post from there. I know it's not idea, but a workaround that works for now. I would love it if AI translate also becomes available in the controle center. Would make moderation even more accessible also looking at out global community.
