Hello Community Experts,

We would like to integrate with our Jira tool and also our Litmus training tool.

Would really like to chat with folks who have gone through the configuration process.

  • Jira- although there is a GS integration tool this is a pretty complex integration considering all of the  customization from most companies to adapt to their internal needs.
  • Litmus- there isn’t an OOTB integration at this time so would like to understand the level of work required for other teams to implement.

Thank you for looking, Sara

Maybe @Jef Vanlaer & @sureshs could share some insights here! 😊

While we are using both Gainsight CC and Jira, we haven’t integrated both systems. The proposed community integration runs through Zapier, which we don’t have. I have integrated Gainsight CS with Jira though. If that would be of interest: happy to discuss.

Thank you- this is helpful. Yes- Actually it’s for Gainsight Communities. Have a great day Jef and Samantha.

Its a reminder that we need to look into Zapier as well.

Hopefully someone can share feedback.

Best, Sara

@Jef Vanlaer what was the Zapier security review and onboarding like? I hadn’t anticipated getting approvals for a new vendor, but it sounds like both GS and HigherLogic use Zapier for these types of integrations so I kindof need to use them right? I just worry about security approvals.

TY, S

@sleslie99 As we don’t have Zapier, I can’t directly tell you. I have used it a couple of years ago though (when security reviews were still thin) and felt it was pretty user-friendly and intuitive.

If I’m not mistaken, @DannyPancratz uses Zapier in combination with Gainsight CC though and might be able to pitch in...

I’ve connected some Zapier automations between CC and Jira.

  • Creating Jira tickets from Idea posts
  • Updating Idea statuses based on Jira status change

Doing things with CC and Zapier is easy to manage (some pre-built actions, but working with the API is pretty straightforward). But I find working with Jira and Zapier to be a lot more complicated (although not impossible).

If you organization has another automation tool (Workato, Automation Anywhere, etc), those should be just as effective as Zapier; you’re really just working via the API for each using a robust set of automation and transformation tools from Zapier. There’s nothing about connecting these two systems that requires Zapier. That said, I’m about as much of a Zapier fan as anyone can be: I have found it easy to learn, incredibly powerful, and a significant driver of my success extending and automating elements of my community.
