Maternity Leave Best Practices

Hi y’all,

I am getting ready to go on maternity leave and I am our only Moderator. We have someone who will be filling in but I am worried about all the Private Messages I typically get.

What has anyone done to block private messages from coming in? I don’t want to delete my account since I will be back and there is not a way to automate an out of office message.

I created a custom gamification rank of Maternity Leave once for a manager. It would show next to your name on posts.

Could do a custom Forum Signature as well inside of your profile. You can put who to contact while you are out.

It will be hard to tackle this one being honest. Would be interested to see what others see.

Congrats to you and your family!

+1 on mitchell’s recommendations.

You don’t necessarily need a custom rank, you can use the Custom User Title field one your profile, which overrides your Rank title.

Also look to see your own personal profile settings can be set to block private messages (not sure if that’s possible for admins)

Thank you both for the great ideas! Will be testing the PM setting! 😄 @DannyPancratz @mitchell.gordon

Congratulations @KathrynMCarter and your family!

We used to receive private messages to a shared admin account. In order to avoid receiving PMs we blocked private messages but also injected a custom profile text to that profile page via Google Tag manager.  Here’s a snip:

And please excuse the language, it’s originally in Finnish and the translation is by Google Chrome.
