Message editor and strange behaviour when using mobile

Message editor is one of the most important features when it comes to communities, and when there are problems with it, it gets very annoying.

I use my mobile phone a lot, I don’t have a personal computer at all. I’m writing this topic using my phone as well.

When I write in our community using mobile, I occasionally get strange behaviour. Usually it happens like this:

I quote some text and shorten it. Maybe I add an @mention. When my post is ready, I press the “Send” button, but nothing happens.

I have to refresh the page and redo everything to be able to reply to the topic.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I am using an iPhone 16 with iOS 26.1 and Safari.

That’s really weird - i haven’t experienced it though although I use my phone quite a bit for this use case as well 😕

Following to hear others thoughts to see if there’s a pattern in this tool behaviour.

But do you use quotes? And do you usually shorten them a bit?

I do both, a lot. I think this behavior is somehow related to this kind of use. I shorten the quote by selecting the text and pressing backspace on the keyboard. Maybe it breaks something?

Yeah, i don’t generally shorten the quote - that could be a differentiator here.

Let me ask around internally as well if that changes any expected behaviour.

Sometimes I add several quotes to my posts, and I usually shorten all of them.

Maybe this kind of usage is considered HQ use, and I might be the only one doing it. 😀

For testing purposes I am quoting, shortening the quote and mentioning @revote.

Oh I do this as well, I see this as common community style of living 😅

My comment above went through with the first “Send” button click. My phone is Samsung Galaxy S24.

This doesn’t happen every single time. Of course, then it might be too easy to fix. 😀
