I would like to be able to compare the popularity of different categories in our community over a longer period of time. In practice, I’d like to get an Excel report showing, for each discussion area, the number of comments and views per month. Is this possible?

Hey @Suvi Lehtovaara 😊

Yes! You can now access and download this data through the new dashboards 🎉

Here’s some more info below, hope this helps!

If you cannot join the beta or the beta doesnt work for you, youd go insided.com/analyticsV2/dashboard/content to get this information.

“Published in” is where youd go to check those views of content.

Thanks for your help @samanthahamlet and @mitchell.gordon , however I’m not able to find what I’m looking for in both of these views. I’m looking for something like this:

Posts per category January February March
Category A
Category B
Category C

Views per category January February March
Category A
Category B
Category C

Is this in anyway possible?

It is possible but you have to export data and build the dashboards you are looking for.

By exporting a report on each month at a time?

By exporting a report on each month at a time?

Yes. You need to export the Post report to get the number of posts, and when you export the Topic report, you can get the number of views per topic. You can get the category names from both reports.

Basically, you get “raw data”, which you then use with pivot tables or other tools to build your dashboards. Once you have created the dashboard, it’s easy to just add new data on a monthly basis.

Sadly there is no out of the box report.

Thanks @revote !

With the help of some pivot magic I found what I was looking for 😍 However I ended up utilizing GA4 when analysing the views/sessions of each category 😊

Glad to help. 😊

When it comes to views or sessions, GA4 is the tool we are using as well. However, Gainsight data is useful, for example, when comparing categories with each other and analyzing trends — not for actual numbers, though.
