Am I able to customize page visibility for access to the Ideas page, like I am able to do it for custom pages?

Yes.

Control > Platform > Ideation

You get to set permissions by roles.

{your control domain}.com/platform/ideation/permissions

That was easy, ty @DannyPancratz! Not sure if this can be resolved here too or if this is a new question:

If the access to Ideas is segmented based on user roles, can I assume that the ability to see the “Idea” button (when creating a topic, as shown in the screenshot below) will also be hidden based on the user role? I am assuming this would be similar to how the submitted ideas are hidden from the “Recently Active” view of the community for certain users.

@Laurenseife that’s a great question. Tbh, I’m not sure.

And I wouldn’t be sure either way:

  • Gainsight CC is typically very good at respecting permission settings elsewhere (ex. Widgets)
  • But the Create a Topic button also shows even when logged-out, so maybe the Idea option always shows too?

We don’t use standard ideation on our community and have hidden that button, so I can’t test myself.

I’d recommend testing with a colleague by changing their permissions temporarily and/or asking another question here to confirm.

If it doesn’t auto hide, you should be able to hide it via a third party script. It’ll get a bit complicated, but it should be possible to write a script for it. I have scripts that reference custom roles and hide/show elements selectively depending on the roles are.

Hi @Laurenseife 👋,

I can confirm the idea button will only appear for users that have access to Ideation 👍

Thank you @DannyPancratz & @olimarrio.
