Hello Gainsight Community!

Last Thursday, The Veeam team (me + @madalina cristil) presented our community's story to the Gainsight audience for the Unleash the Power of Community series. We discussed our super user and user group strategies, which we attribute to our community's successful peer-to-peer engagement rate. Thanks @vishkatti  and Jessica for the opportunity! 💚 We were unable to answer every question during the hour slot, so I wanted to reply to a few we didn't get to here:

Question Answer

How many members get to be part of these legends groups?  Or stated another way, how many are they?

Currently we have 28 Legends and 50 Vanguards. We are not confined to this number, but we keep the intakes around the same amount each time.

Is Veeam community open to all or for customers only? Do you have a breakup on how many of superusers, user group leaders are from customer base?  No. Veeam’s community is open to everyone! Our superusers make up members of our V100. (Legends, Vanguards, MVPs). This group, as well as our User Group leaders, are a mix of customers and partners.
How do you reward Veeam MVPs employees, as part of the 100 Program?  VeeaMVPs are offered swag, connections to Product Management they typically do not get in their day-to-day role, and an invite to our annual V100 Summit.
What platform do you use to host live online meetups?  We use GoTo! Specifically, the Meetup version of the platform.
Incredible work. If there are additional members - What does the team structure look like? What are the roles and responsibilities of others on the team?

Thank you! We are a community team of 3. Madalina and I operate our User Groups and Legends program. Our colleague, Nikola, is responsible for the Vanguard program.

We all contribute to miscellaneous projects as they come (newsletters, swag, events, collaborations with different teams)

How do you choose who to feature in your who’s new updates?

We highlight every new member of the community in our Who’s New segment of the weekly recap. How we do it? Look below!

We use the segment feature on Gainsight DH to organize the list of who joined our community during a certain time period.

What external platforms do you use to interact with your users before they sign up for your internal community? Discord, Reddit, GitHub, etc? And how did you move users from those communities to your own?  Our community is spread beyond the Hub (Reddit, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp/Telegram channels, etc.) We try to provide the community experience on the Hub to bring those users. We will offer engagement opportunities and experiences (user groups, exclusive news updates, super user status, 1-1 engagement with employees) that they cannot have on other platforms.

We promote at Veeam events as well when the team or super user members are present. We will always bring our banners around which have a QR code to our community :)

Are you providing the community in English Only?  Our settings/platform is in English. We have content in many languages on the Hub, though. You can enter our site and find content in Italian, German, Turkish, and more. This is the work of our user groups.
Were you on another platform prior to gainsight? If so what was the migration process like?  Veeam had community presence throughout various sites (Reddit, Spiceworks, our internal forum) We are still active on various platforms, so there was no real migration. The Hub offers a different experience than the other sites, which is what we hope brings users to the platform.
Do Veeam users typically use the product for their day-to-day activities?  Yes! Most of our community members use Veeam products daily in their work.

Find our presentation here Unlocking Peer-to-Peer Engagement

Description:

Peer-to-peer engagement lies at the heart of every vibrant customer community, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and customer loyalty - but it can be tricky to build that engagement, quickly and scalably. Because let’s face it, no one wants to be the first person on the dance floor (or community forum, in this case!)

Join Veeam’s Madalina Cristil, Community Manager, and Safiya Mohamed, Community Analyst to hear how they garnered high organic traffic and achieved best-in-class P2P engagement rates, earning recognition from Gartner as a competitive industry differentiator.

In this session, you’ll learn:

  • How to leverage advanced user engagement programs to drive scalable, consistent community engagement.
  • How to build user groups and identify and engage your super users
  • Content strategies needed to foster active participation

Thank you to those who joined! See you at Pulse 🙂
