I was excited about the E-Mail variants but there's an issue with them as they've been implemented. I'll use our support surveys as an example. We have 3 products that each have:

  • Their own survey (for reporting reasons)

  • An English E-Mail template

  • An English Reminder E-Mail

  • A French E-Mail

  • A French Reminder

So for a single survey type we have 3 x Surveys + 12 x E-Mail templates. Being able to group them all into a single template with variants would be great except for a limitation that all the variants have to share the same Survey link.

Ok, I can now get 12 down to 3 (big improvement) and I can clone the stack to minimize the amount of re-work, but it seems like an unnecessary limitation.

The changes in the outreaches are no less restrictive. In order to merge these, you need to be able to drive off a single powerlist. This means that reminders are out, along with outreaches that use a different contact field (despite being driven from the same MDA table).

It also looks like the CC settings are shared across everything sent from the outreach, so our tailored alerts also have to be separate outreaches.

So far the only thing I'm managed to merge is the English/French survey. It feels like a real missed opportunity to untangle the web of powerlists/templates/outreaches we have in our org.
Hi Rich, Totally agree that it is a very big pain to have separate Outreaches for all the followups etc.

As you may have seen in our roadmap webinar, multi-variant templates and multiple send times is only a first step in helping with the issues.  Up next are 'advanced outreaches' that handle followups within a single outreach.

One question for you: why do you have separate surveys for the different languages?  It would seem to make reporting more difficult not easier.   (Having said that, I am definitely aware that funnel reporting in general is very hard today.  This should also be easier and will be with Advanced Outreach.)
