One thing we'd like to see is more standard custom fields in the Timeline. So, in the text entry, require certain data points be entered based on the Timeline Type. For instance, if you have a QBR with a customer - and it is a QBR Timeline Entry Type - you have to input a few certain data points.

Right now Timeline entries feel a bit like a blank note and leave the CSM to enter whatever they want, vs. a more prescriptive form of data.

Hi Colin,

Depending on the type of data you are looking to capture, it sounds like you might be interested in the custom activity field option. This allows you to define additional fields that would appear on the activity layout and optionally make the completion of that field as mandatory before the activity can be saved. https://support.gainsight.com/Timeline/Admin_Guides/Configure_Timeline_View_for_C360_and_R360#Add_New_Custom_Fields_to_Activity_Layout

On a related point, you're also able to set up dependencies between the fields that Dan's referring to: https://support.gainsight.com/Timeline/User_Guides/Use_Timeline_to_log_Activities#Use_Controller_and_Dependent_Dropdown_Lists_in_Activity_Timeline

@dan_ahrens  @seth what is the best way to report on these custom fields?

Hi @andreammelde, you can go to the report builder and then select the Activity Timeline object, in that object you can select that custom field on which you want to build reports. Hope this helps. Let me know if you’ve any other questions.
