We use different user roles and we think it would be a great idea to have user-role resitrted events e.g.

Events and webinars for everyone - can be posted visible for everyone

Partner monthly webinars - only visible for users with the role “Partner:

etc.

We require the same feature. We run quarterly product roadmap webinars that we would like to only be visible for our customer role.

We are curating content based on user roles and access to upcoming and on-demand events would be great to segment accordingly. This is also critical for ensuring that our proprietary content is restricted to customer access only.

Thanks for submitting this idea @Aliya, and also for adding your input @Christa Brown @justine.rae!

I like the idea a lot, makes sense to segment/target events in this way so users only see what’s relevant to them. Just to make sure: would you expect users without the custom role to be completely prevented from viewing/attending these events?

Yes @daniel.boon we would want those events only accessible/visible to a targeted custom role, both the live/registration as well as the on-demand content.

We also need this feature. We have invite-only events which should not be visible to other user groups.

We will Also soon have a strong use case for this feature.

I had written a similar request as copied/pasted below before my colleague found this existing idea.

Ask:

I would like to be able to set user roles for events (whether it’s individual events or entire event types) so that an event is only available to that particular user role(s). It would hide/appear in the Events feed and widget.

An alternative solution, though a less flexible and less desirable one, would be to make Group events populate into the main Events listing for logged in users who are part of that Group.

The problem as it exists today:

When I create an Event, it can either be created and visible to everyone or the Event can be assigned to a Group. The downside of using a Group, however, is that the Event then does not show up in the Events feed, regardless of whether or not you are logged in and part of that Group. So these Events are not exposed nearly as well to the potential attendee. They don’t show up in the sidebar event calendar widget, they don’t show up in the “Events” module page.

Examples of why this is an issue:

  1. I have customers in 3 languages. My main community language is English, with “Other language communities” in Chinese and Japanese. If I put events from all 3 languages into the main Events calendar, it becomes cluttered with foreign language content from every user’s perspective.
  2. I have customer-only events but my community is visible to prospects. Most of my events are open to both prospects and customers, but I want some to be more exclusive.

Hi, we would also need this feature: we can’t have our webinars openly available for everyone to watch, so we need the webinars to be gated, or for us to chose if they are gated or not. I notice the last post in this thread was some months ago, any updates since then? :fingers_crossed:

Hi @Anitahg - thanks for adding your input for this idea! We don’t currently have any updates to share on this, but I’ll be sure to update the topic if there are any new developments.

Would really really like to see this implemented.

This is important for us, as well. It is strange that all community elements have the private option except for events. I don’t understand the logic behind that!

Hello!
What is the status here for user-role restricted events?
The idea is still open, so this will not happen any time soon, right? 😅 Our community would benefit from this, too (+ voted for this).

Totaly agree with @Eva and @lwackertn
We work with different usergroups in our community and they need to have access to different events.
Would love to know if there are any new developments.
