Hi Team,

I had an idea earlier about user profiles and the leader board/points system.

For example, our moderation team marked a user’s answer as best and this meant they were awarded points and now rank at the top of the leader board. However, our moderation team only marked their answer so that the answer would appear as ‘Solved’, not because the user’s answer was actually the best.

So what i need to be able to do was, click on the user, their user profile then comes up, select control adn it takes me to the user’s overview of their profile. (The screen below)

However, you can see there is no way to see how many points this user has or any ability to add or remove points from their tally. The only functionality built is to manually award/remove their badges.

We are about to launch a rewards scheme and this ability that i speak of would be very useful as we will be needing to award/remove points from people more frequently.

I am sure other communities would find this a useful tool as well.

Let me know your thoughts :).

Thanks,

Emil

Hi @Emil - thanks for sharing this idea.

Do you have any examples of use cases for awarding points to a user, rather than the example you gave where you revoke points from a user?

There’s a related idea to this already on the community - @Emil if revoking is the main use case for you, I’ll merge the ideas, but if you have a use case for awarding points to a user I’d be interested to hear that too :).

Hi @daniel.boon

Yes, so we are launching a rewards programme and we will be monitoring how genuinely our members accrue points. If we find that points were allocated by mistake or earned disingenuously then we would need to manually remove these.

In addition, we would like the ability to manually award points if we see users helping each other out, especially as our rewards scheme will be dependent on how many points a user obtains. For a great answer or continued attempts to support a user it would be great to award these users

Hope that clears my thinking up.

Thanks,

Emil

I’m updooting this because I often have Community members do frankly amazing things and I wish I could send them a package of points for it. Prime example = hosting an event for the community. Can’t be detected by the InSided platform but absolutely worthy of a big points payout!

I’d like to +1 @Onomatopoeia’s comment.

Additionally, @daniel.boon here’s a very common and specific use case we run into: merge user work around.

As there’s no reason to merge/combine user records, our best work around is to encourage the user to choose one to consistently use going forward (we can also ban the second record if needed). However, they’d like the points earned on the other profile added for an accurate total of their points across both user records.

This idea (and the sister idea to revoke) would go a long way to supporting the ability to reconcile points. Right now, our alternative is to award through the API, which requires support of our IT team and much more cumbersome than what’s ideal for community managers.
