This article guides admins on how to personalize community pages by controlling widget visibility.
Overview
The Widget Visibility feature empowers you to create a personalized experience on your site by displaying specific widgets only to targeted user segments. With this feature, you can curate your page layouts based on roles, behaviors, or even anonymous (guest) access, leading to improved content relevancy, engagement, and user satisfaction.
Using predefined segments, admins can leverage widget visibility to control which users see which widgets. This means you can show or hide individual widgets for different user groups, such as Product Managers, Support Teams, Customers, or Guest Users.
For Example:
- Show a product roadmap (Ideas) widget only to internal stakeholders.
- Display support documentation to only logged-in users.
- Highlight onboarding tips exclusively for new users.
Prerequisites
To control the user view, the admin must create segments first to assign the widgets. For more information on how to create segments, refer to the Segments article.

Assign Widgets to Segments
Once user segments are created, admins can now assign segments to the widgets, leading to improved content relevancy, engagement, and user satisfaction.
To assign the widgets:
- Log in to Destination.
- Click Edit Layout.
- Select an existing widget or add a new one as follows:
For more information on adding widgets, refer to the Getting started with homepage design article.- If the widget is already added, scroll to it and click the pencil icon. The widget’s slide-out panel appears.
- (Optional) To add a new Widget to your layout, navigate to the desired location on your page layout and click the plus icon.
- Scroll to the bottom of the slide-out panel and expand Visibility.
- Select either of the available options:
- Public: Widgets are visible to everyone.
- Private: Widgets are visible to segments selected and (Optional) guest users.
- From the Add Segment for Users dropdown, select the segments.
- Click Done.
The widget is now assigned to be either visible to the Public or Private based on the above selection.
