I have noticed something that have been tripping up up some customers that I'd like to open up some talks on a feature enhancement.

When using a power list to load participants, say you load one participant into the AO and then some of the data changes that you are bringing in, for example the CSM field.

Even if you refresh the power list and re run the sync it will not update the participant record in AO participants. The only way to get the new data is to "Clear Participants" and then re run the sync. Since the record already exists due to the uniqueness criteria it will basically skip the update.

I'd like open up the discussion to see if this is what admins would like to change. At least, I think this should be made more clear in the product.

Another thing I'd like to see more visible is that the participant sync will not remove contacts if the power list is no longer bringing in a contact. 
Example - Power list contains 2 contacts and the participant sync runs. Before publishing the outreach you change the PL and it is now only bringing in 1 contact. If you run the participant sync it will not remove the participant loaded in the first sync.

I definitely see both sides on this one but I think we should give the option to clear currently loaded participants when running the sync to avoid confusion.

Hi Alex,

We are addressing this by making sure as part of the sync participants before publish , the admin will be given an option to decide whether they want to resync all participants or only add new participants. This will ensure that the above use case is met.

​Hi All, Option to sync only new participants in Programs is available in October release. 

When syncing participants in a Program that already has participants, Admins can choose to either clear the current participant list and sync participants from all sources again, or sync only participants that are new to the existing list.
To make this selection, navigate to Journey Orchestrator > Programs > open a Program with an existing participant list >navigate to the participant configuration screen > click the participant sync option.
