From the customer “We have a large number of records marked as inactive in our system that are still showing on global search and e-mail timeline look ups when a contact is set against an inactive company too.”

Are we looking towards removing them from search.

This should be optional an admin-controlled.

@sai33335 - Thank you for your inputs.  A quick question though - What if a CSM would wants to check the summary or timeline entries or some other information of an inactive company? If we restrict in Global Search, I am afraid there wouldn’t be an easy way to navigate to inactive companies.

@muralikrishnagopu  That is why I said it should be admin-controlled.  We don’t want to turn off inactive search.

Yes, if we turn off the Inactive Accounts search we may get some other issues like what @muralikrishnagopu  mentioned.

@sai33335  and @darkknight,  we are planning to address such cases by bringing in the ‘Default Filters’ feature to the search configuration. This feature will enable the admin to filter out any unwanted entries from the search results by setting up filters as part of the ‘Search Configuration’. I will share more details here once we pick this up.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.

@gopal_rao_kallepu This idea caught my attention and I agree with your pitch, some filtering options would be excellent! Do you have an update on where this landed?

+1 Configurable search criteria in Global Search is needed in my org.

I would also like this for my org as well.
CSMs/users are frustrated that they cannot tell if a company is active or inactive when pulling up the name in global search bar.

At the very least, it would be great if Gainsight could add an “inactive” marker to the search results drop down to be able to differentiate between the records.

A quick update on this, We are currently working on the requirements for revamping the overall search experience in Gainsight this quarter. One of the requirements being the ability to filter search results configuration for the Admins. I will keep this thread posted on any updates/timelines

I received another request for this today - any updates on where this is on the roadmap? We sync 95% of accounts from our CRM, and only a portion of those are active customers, the rest being prospects or churn.

In terms of end users, rarely are they interested in finding an inactive account - CSMs in Gainsight are concerned with post-sale motions, anything pre-sale being in the CRM.

An admin controlled toggle for displaying inactive records would be one option, another would be to prioritize results based on status - active showing ahead of inactive, meaning inactive records can still be found if required.
