Hi Team,

I have noticed that there is no current functionality (Unless i am unaware of it and if i am please let me know) to see who actually provided/marked an answer as best answer.

In addition, there doesn’t seem to be any functionality on the control panel to stop users from marking their own replies to another persons topics as best answer.

It is highly unlikely that someone who raised a topic has given themselves an answer to their own question, yet they have the ability to mark their own response as an answer.

To ensure the use of this feature is done so correctly and that performance metrics are accurate I think it would be a good feature to have.

To sum up:

  1. Build functionality to see the name of the user who marked an answer and not just the author of the marked answer.
  2. Build functionality to stop a user marking their own reply as an answer on someone else or their own topic.

Thanks for sharing this idea @Emil.

You can already get this data from the Mark as answer export → this provides an overview of all topics that were marked as having an answer by either the moderator, a super user or the topic author.

Edit: I was mistaken, we don’t have this available. See this related idea:

In addition, there doesn’t seem to be any functionality on the control panel to stop users from marking their own replies to another persons topics as best answer.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by this → only the topic author, superusers, and moderators are able to mark their own replies as the best answer to a topic.

It is highly unlikely that someone who raised a topic has given themselves an answer to their own question, yet they have the ability to mark their own response as an answer.

We do see that this sometimes happens - a user asks their question, continues to try to fix the issue, and comes back to share their answer (to their own question) with the rest of the community.

Please let me know if the above makes sense and if the export is enough for you, or if you think there’s still missing functionality here :).

Hi @daniel.boon! Could you please help me understand which field in the Mark as Answer export includes information about who marked the answer as best? I pulled the report hoping to find this information and can’t figure out which column identifies who marked the answer.

Thanks!

Hi @adam.ballhaussen -  we don’t currently store information about who marked the answer as best in the Mark as Answer export unfortunately.

We do have a popular idea open for this however:

It is highly unlikely that someone who raised a topic has given themselves an answer to their own question, yet they have the ability to mark their own response as an answer.

I disagree with this, our users come back on occasion to the community having found an answer through another channel (support/chat/phone a friend) or figuring it out themselves. They then reply to their own thread and mark it as correct. We encourage this as well since we try to prompt users after some time to see if they found an answer - it helps everyone.

I like this idea but I also prefer the existing functionality for our community (hide who marked correct), so please make this optional if implemented.
