Would be super helpful to have the ability to display the number of content views as a column in Control > Content. In a lot of cases we may get people looking at content, but not commenting or making replies and I’m sometimes less worried about that as long as our lurkers are getting value from the content and engaging.

@Scott Baldwin @DannyPancratz How would you use this data? Is it to get insights about popular content (in terms of views), or does it form some part of your moderation workflow? (which would then be a reason to locate it in Control > Content, where you’re performing moderation)

@daniel.boon yes, I’d want to see it on the Content Dashboard to get easy insights about popular content (in terms of views). Ideally those view counts would filter along with all the other data on that dashboard.

I realize now that Scott’s idea may have been more for moderation, but my interest in around analytics.

@daniel.boon I’m interested in both understanding what content is getting viewed or not and how much (so we can make content decisions and surface or close topics) as well as understanding the popularity of content.

Great idea, Scott! This would be valuable to our organization as well for the same reason Scott shared. We could sort by views, likes, votes, replies, etc. to identify the most popular content.

In response to the comments in the thread,

One limitation we encounter with having this data in Analytics > Content is that you can not filter by Public Tags in this area. The content our employees create has unique Public Tags to identify the content type and topic. Since this is not available in Analytics > Content, we are using a combination of the Analytics > Content page and the Content > Overview page to be able to filter by Public Tags. While on Content > Overview, we are then able to filter by our Public Tag and see how many likes and replies the post have, but not views.

However, for our moderators and community managers, as they are in Content > Overview and they are keeping an eye on the performance of posts, being able to see Views in Content > Overview would be helpful, just as they can see replies and likes.
