We have multiple communications applications in our organization. Gainsight JO being mainly for CS and Marketo for Sales/Marketing Comms. Our customers want to have their Opt-Outs honored across ALL of our platforms…. they do not see us independently by our departments but as a single company. We need the ability to synchronize similar Opt-Outs between systems. To do this we need programatic access to Opt-Outs via the Rules Engine, so we can ingest and update Opt-Outs from other systems into JO Opt-Outs, and also to export our Opt-Outs to other systems for the same purpose. We could use a common connected system such as Salesforce for the data, or a CSV via the S3 bucket, but require access to the Opt-Out data via Rules Engine.

+2We’re in a similar situation with Marketo. In addition, we are being asked more frequently to opt out people manually. They are wary of clicking the Unsubscribe link on emails and instead inform their CSM to opt them out.
+1Yes! The workaround right now is to ingest all of the subscription info into a custom object and every. single. program. has to check against it. Not only is that incredibly tedious but I hate how it adds several steps (and pulling every single person’s subscription info) to the end of the data setup that otherwise would not be needed.
Imagine how many programs run a day, all pulling the same redundant info of every subscription record all because we can’t update the opt-out object.
And as horrible as it is, even that is an imperfect solution because they could opt-out via another tool mid-program and still be stuck in our journey until the end.

+6I agree on this being a gap & would love to see a fix implemented to help reduce manual updates and/or repeat fetching from custom objects like Mindy pointed out.
