Surprised this doesn’t exist already, but could be I was searching for the wrong combo of words.

Would like our end-users, when updating via Renewal Centre, to be able to remove text from a picklist field so the field becomes blank once again.

Example: Churn Reason, we use this for tracking the reason we are projecting churn. If we’re no longer projecting churn, or it closes at full renewal value then the CSM should be able to go and remove the churn reason, just like they would be able to change to another value if the reason was different.

In at least some places in the UI, a user can remove a Picklist value and set the field to “null” by clicking the “X in a circle” icon. I don’t know if this this behavior is universal through all features, but floating it here in case it’s helpful.

I would settle for a convenient way for admins to do this - right now I believe the only way is to use a Rule Action which is kind of a pain. Something in the Company Data Operations page perhaps?

Ah interesting, it was bad of me to assume becasue I experienced it in RC that everywhere else had the same issue -  consistency of UX/UI is not a given for any of Gainsight so I should have known better :sweat_smile: (in fact it’s almost always the opposite)

In Renewal Centre it’s not possible ;

I have now checked 360 and there is a “None” option, and I see the X in other places (like CTA’s). - Will update my original post.

I wouldn’t unfortunately, I don’t want to guess when something should be blank versus shouldn’t be. It’s not always possible to do that. I want the end-user to make that decision and be able to do it themselves. Also for field tracking it’s important to know who made the decision to make the field blank.

It looks like the “None” option does work, so I’ll just fall back on making those editable in C360 and that’s fine for my purposes - good to know!

No StatusUnder Consideration

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for bringing this up and explanation on the Business need.

We’d take this under consideration and keep you posted.

Any update on this?

Still not possible to set a null value on a picklist field in Renewal Centre, e.g. removing Churn Reason when there’s no longer any churn expected...
