We would like to allow our users to select multiple poll answers instead of just one. Thanks!

Hey @ZapierSteph - thanks for sharing this idea. Do you have an example of a poll you wanted to create where this would have been useful? :)

Hi @daniel.boon - Yes, we wanted to share this example that we wanted multiple poll selection: https://community.zapier.com/ask-the-community-3/poll-what-type-of-content-would-you-like-to-see-in-the-zapier-community-2949

I second this idea @daniel.boon @ZapierSteph!

Our Product Team has asked for feedback on a potential feature and they gave us 10 options to present to users. Limiting the poll to one answer is quite frustrating and it actually put the community on the spot.

Another good feature would be to allow more than one poll per topic. Should I create a separate idea for that suggestion? We need both

Xmas is coming and the Deezer community would be more fun with polls like this. Let us know if you can work on that :v_tone2:

Thanks for raising this. We’re currently exploring enhancements to how polls work in the community, including introducing a more flexible poll widget that could be placed beyond individual topics.

To help shape this properly we’d love to get some insights from you:

  • Are polls primarily used for quick engagement, product feedback, or operational decisions?
  • Would you prefer polls to appear only within topics, or also as standalone widgets (e.g., homepage or category pages)?
  • Should polls be visible to all members, or targeted to specific segments or product areas?
  • Do polls need to drive discussion, or are they meant to be quick, one-click interactions?

We would also like to have the option to create polls with multiple answers. For example, we could have a poll asking what channels people like to watch. That also could create and drive a discusion, and provide more information how people use their tv. So the answer to your first question is bacically 'yes’ 🙂

  • Are polls primarily used for quick engagement, product feedback, or operational decisions?

Currently we have the polls in a topic, because we also provide some background to the question. That way people understand the polled question better.

Hi @Sudhanshu!

To help shape this properly we’d love to get some insights from you:

  • Are polls primarily used for quick engagement, product feedback, or operational decisions?

Currently mainly for engagement, but we would like to increase poll use. If we get more options for answers, we can also use it for feedback, which can inform operational decisions

  • Would you prefer polls to appear only within topics, or also as standalone widgets (e.g., homepage or category pages)?

Also available as widget. That way we can target users in a more flexible way. And ask quick questions where we do not necessarily want regular comments as well.

  • Should polls be visible to all members, or targeted to specific segments or product areas?

Generally we will poll our entire user base. But having the option to limit it based on product area, segment or user role is a failry critical thing. That would enable us to fully use polling for feedback (in our closed betas or limited user categories).

  • Do polls need to drive discussion, or are they meant to be quick, one-click interactions?

Both. Currently we really only use them to drive discussion and stimulate engagment. But having polls become available as stand-alone widgets, we can start using them for quick, one-click, data generation.

Interesting. When you say data generation, what all attributes you are looking at? Who voted, when, chosen option(s)? I am particularly interested in understanding this use case. Currently, the polls in topics do not allow for such data generation.

It’d be great to understand the full use case you have in mind.

There are multiple things we could use it for, but the main attribute would be the chosen options and how many people choose it.

As a random example, it could be a poll about how you use your mobile phone abroad, which could have multiple answers (read news, plan trips, check reviews, contact/update home, to name a few of the top of my head). When I'm abroad I use if for multiple of those, and if an answer get more votes, we could write an article about it with tips. We could tailer content based on that.

Or share the votes internally with other departments, if it's something they are interested in.

I don't think who or when are very relevant for us, but @Shy might add something later 🙂

Hey @Shy @Jasper really appreciate you taking the time to share these insights.

Multi-select is loud and clear, and the current poll experience is definitely overdue for a rethink. We're exploring some ideas here and would love to share designs with you for feedback once we have something worth showing.

Hey @Sudhanshu, it’s great to hear you are looking into developing the poll functionality. This is a key function for us and I’d also be happy to provide more feedback of our use case if useful. Thanks.
