Allow Users to be marked as "attended" vs "registered" for events

We’re exploring using the API to assign points based on event attendance. Right now, there is no way to track within the community itself who attended the event vs. who just registered. It be great to assign different points to those two subcategories and be able to use the community rather than an external system as the source of truth for who actually showed up.
