We would like to give our users the choice to turn on or turn off captions (transcripts) in videos. We’ve done some testing on how to do this and so far here are the results:

  1. Export video and the transcript file separately; upload video to Media Library, but no way to upload transcript. User cannot enable captions.
  2. Export video file with transcript turned on, upload to Media Library. Transcript appears, but it’s not possible to turn it off.
  3. Export video and transcript file separately, upload both to our company’s instance of Wistia. Embed link to our Wistia in CE. User can enable/disable, however we’re not making use of the Media Library (this is what we’re currently opting to do)
  4. Export video and transcript separately, upload video to Media Library. File a ticket with CE support to upload the transcript into that particular video. This will allow users to enable/disable, however it involves a lot of manual steps.

Suggestion: make it possible to upload transcripts in parallel to the video upload and link them together.

Bonus: better for accessibility all around

Hi! Thank you very much for the detailed breakdown of the things you had a chance to try. I’m one of the Product Managers here at Gainsight CE and I’m currently exploring opportunities to improve the user experience in this area. I will keep you posted here about any progress and I may also have some more specific questions about your use case.
