Allow users to search for members based on public profile fields

Use case is that it allows members to search for others with a specific public trait, as they are best placed to advise them. 

The public info in the profile fields can be viewed by anyone, no privacy issues, This feature will simply allow members to search for and ask for opinions and advice from a more specific pot of members. 

We would also like users to be able to search for other users. 

One business case is for our Account Managers. We are a B2B SAAS company and our Account Managers want to be subscribed to any user that is one of their clients.  They want to be able to search for user by company (custom user field) or at least be able to search for them by username so that they can see the profile page and subscribe to those users. This would allow our managers to understand what their customers are doing and saying in the Community so that they can understand engagement, sentiment, etc.

Currently there isn’t a way for Account Partners to get to the user’s profile page to subscribe if the user has not yet posted within the community. They can only find a profile page by clicking on the profile from a topic/reply.

I have a similar use case also. We want to create networks within our community based on attributes in common such as location, business type/size. We are a property management service provider and our clients are properties in the hospitality industry - hotels, hostels, serviced apartments. For them to find another revenue manager at a hostel in Berlin for example, would propel the user experience to the next level. Thanks for the consideration - although i’m surprised this idea has low votes!

As a new user of the Gainsight Community platform, I also observe the lack of this functionality, which I find very important. 

The community is all about connections, and if you cannot find a person, this primary value is lost. 

The idea has been posted here 3 years ago. May I get any updates on this idea from the @Gainsight CC Team, pls? 

This is currently in discovery and we are planning to work on member directory which is public and allows members to search across all community members
