Associate Success Plan with Customer Goal via Rules

We are starting to look more at the Customer Goals feature. It seems that we can use rules to both create a Customer Goal and to create a Success Plan for that Goal, however there’s no way for us to associate the two, short of taking an additional step of going to each individual Customer Goal and associating the newly created Success Plan manually.

If we have prescribed Success Plan templates for specific types of Customer Goals, it’d be nice if we could pre-populate the goal with the corresponding Success Plan. Requiring a manual intervention to associate the two would likely be a non-starter for adoption of the feature for us.

@kstim, definitely seems like something that would help us out!

I played around with this today since we have a similar need and have already implemented goals.  It seems there is a System Object: Customer Goal Association which stores either the Success Plan GSID or the CTA GSID under “Association Type” - which is not well-named either.  If you associate a goal with both a CTA and a Success Plan (or several of each) - there should be a new record in that Association object for each.

I tried several different Actions in the Rules engine to associate goals, but could not find a way.  There is no option to update “Customer Goal Association” at all via the rules engine.  Does anyone have any advice?
