We have a clearly-defined series of moderator tags that we use for various purposes. Although we don't have a huge list, it can be difficult to remember the exact format of the tag. For example, is it life-sciences, life-sci, life_sci etc.

It would be really helpful if the platform would autocomplete or offer suggestions for these tags when you're typing them in, based on the tags which have been applied before.

I think this could be useful for public tags as well so people all use the same one instead of getting several variations of the same thing.

Hi,

Is there any update on this? It’s a really slow process to tag ideas as there is no dropdown of ideas or autocomplete feature. Will cause data inaccuracies down the track.

Thanks,

Ilan

We don’t have any update on this idea right now @Ilan B - thanks for adding your additional feedback. I imagine this is in relation to your use case where you’re adding moderator tags to forward ideas to relevant the product managers/team in Slack channels, correct? If so, I can imagine the cost of mistakes is quite high.

This would be really helpful to my team as well. We have a list of nearly 50 public tags and about 5 moderator tags that are often multiple words and right now in order to update tags on Ideas I have to keep a spreadsheet open so I know the correct way to type it in (is it “comment” or “comments”?). This is inefficient and prone to mistakes that affect our reporting on which tags get the most posts (we feed this into a data warehouse where other customer feedback is pushed).

Ideally this would work for both public and moderator tags.

I notice this autocomplete does work for public tags on Questions and Conversations.

+1 Consistent, defined moderator tags would make our Zaps function more reliably. It also takes the guess work out of moderators choosing the right tag to kick off business processes.

We use moderator tags to tag topics for our various feedback loops. I recently re-did my filter for one of these loops and found about 20 spelling variations for that single feedback tag…..

Autocomplete for tags is a critical feature.

Thanks for this idea and the continued feedback here. Erik_'s note about finding 20 spelling variations for a single tag is a perfect illustration of why this matters, both for workflow reliability and for any integrations that depend on consistent tag values.

We're moving this into discovery. We'll keep this thread updated as we learn more.

Another relevant side of this, @Larry, we need to be able to clean up, manually or automatically, unused tags. Those 20 spelling variations I mentioned earlier? They're still in my filter because I can't remove them, and am not sure whether or not they are actually in use on a topic.

Going to look at these two together @Erik_, thanks!
