Automatically quote selected text

We're seeing that our users often quote a whole (longgggg) message and then just reply to a tiny section of that quote because they don't know how to edit (or don't care to).

That then makes their reply harder to read, so we (as mods) then have to go in and edit out all the irrelevant bits.

Would it be possible to make the editor work in such a way that you

• can select a piece of text in a reply
• then press the quote button
• and have the selected text become the quote
