Best Answer Button: Show who marked the answer

Hi Team, 

I have noticed that there is no current functionality (Unless i am unaware of it and if i am please let me know) to see who actually provided/marked an answer as best answer. 

In addition, there doesn’t seem to be any functionality on the control panel to stop users from marking their own replies to another persons topics as best answer.

It is highly unlikely that someone who raised a topic has given themselves an answer to their own question, yet they have the ability to mark their own response as an answer. 

To ensure the use of this feature is done so correctly and that performance metrics are accurate I think it would be a good feature to have. 

To sum up:

  1. Build functionality to see the name of the user who marked an answer and not just the author of the marked answer. 
  2. Build functionality to stop a user marking their own reply as an answer on someone else or their own topic.

    I'm going to slightly correct ​@Jasper. It's not a custom role on our part. We put former moderators back to regular users and give them a custom user title of ‘former moderator’

     

    You could say, use the user title for displaying who marked. But that is also not something everyone uses.

     

    I think using two set terms (for marked by moderator or marked by topic starter) would be the easiest way. And make those terms editable as a phrase. That way you do enable customisation/localisation without adding another item to a settings page.

      This feature is also important for our community as we recently migrated to GS and were relying on this feature. We would like to display the person who selected Best answer but only to selected Custom roles.

      Hi ​@Lina Dabasinkaite! We are improving this with the new Threaded Replies release planned in upcoming weeks. We have already added user information (Avatar, Username, Rank)  to the Best Answer Section. 

      We are right now considering adding a label displaying whether the answer was marked by the Author or a Moderator.

        This feature doesn’t seem to be included with the Threaded Replies release.
        Is it still planned for upcoming releases?

        Hi ​@LauridsP, thanks for following up.

        You're right, with the Threaded Replies release, we only shipped user information in the Best Answer section, but the label indicating whether the answer was marked by the Author or a Moderator did not make it into this release.

        This is still very much on our radar. We'll keep this idea updated as it moves forward.

        Thanks ​@Sudhanshu for the news! The idea to add Author/Moderator to the Best reply sounds great and ads transparency to the users. Looking forward to this coming release!
