Clicking into a post in "show more activity" loses your place in the list

A community member pointed out that if they click the “Show more activity” button on a view such as “Recent activities” (on the homepage), and then click into a specific post, when they click back they’ve lost their place in the activity list. So, ideally if you click Show more activity 3x, then click a specific post, and then go back, it should return you to the 3rd page of activities.

    Hi @Cristina, 

    I’m an active member in our community and the ability to to go back to the area to work on my next post will lead to better experience, saves time, and doesn’t give me motion sickness when I have to scroll many time to get the next post.  

    Is this something that can be implement?

      I honestly never thought of this problem because whenever I open a new post, I always open it in a new tab.. so the position is saved in the original tab :)

      Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is the norm in almost all websites, right? If you close the current page, you will be redirected & lose your scrolling/loading progress.

      So it’s recommendable to open any post in a new tab (takes 0 extra effort) if you are planning to come back to the activity feed.
      Did I understand this idea correctly? :)

      No no, no new tabs :) You are hc user so you open links to new tab but random or average user maybe even doesnt know how to use tabs.

        Has there been any news since the last comments? Our users are also complaining about this.There seem to be more votes, so maybe it can be unparked.

          We wanted to let you know that topic feeds are an area we plan to actively work on in the near future. As part of that effort, we're considering improvements to the browsing experience within feeds, and this idea is a great example of the kind of friction we want to address. We're moving this idea back to Open status to reflect that.

          We'd love to use this opportunity to hear more from you. Are there other challenges you or your community members face when using the different topic feeds? Whether it's as an end user browsing content or as an admin configuring and managing feeds — all input is welcome and will help us shape the improvements.

          From and end user perspective: filter options would be nice. Being able to filter the default feeds for recently active and help others on

           

          • Time period: for example topics from the last 24 hours or the last week
          • Category

            What do you think about filters such as Content type, Tags, Status [Closed, no replies, no best answer]?

            I see I hadn't responded to this yet, apologies.

             

            For our users, content type and status are less relevant. Their main interests lie in answering questions from other customers, and socialising. For socialising, they don't need the feeds. Those topics are easily found (and often favorited).

            So they use the feeds to find unanswered questions. Which can be done with the built-in Help others feed. Additional filtering on content type: question, and/or status: no best answer is unneccessary for that one. 

             

            What would be useful is filtering on category, tag, and time periode.
