Close CTA button for Dialogue engagements that DO NOT REFRESH the page!

Can we add a “Close” button on dialogue engagements that simply does just that? Using “#” for the CTA still refreshes the page. The instructions on this page do not work either, because it requires you to have two buttons on the engagement (inconvenient and unattractive for users). Or will refresh the page anyways as others have commented in the thread.

The page refreshing after viewing an engagements is disruptive to the user experience and makes the experience much more intrusive.

 

My workaround currently has been to use Guide engagements instead, since those will simply close without refreshing the page. But that is not the intended use of Guides, and they are visually inconsistent with other Dialogue engagements shown in a similar context.

    Yes please! This makes for a less than ideal user experience and messes with pageview metrics.

    I am curious, why not switch to Guides → then set the standards you require against that engagement type?

    But that is not the intended use of Guides, and they are visually inconsistent with other Dialogue engagements shown in a similar context. 

     

    For our engagements, because the Guides include both ‘dialog’ and tooltip type functionality, we are creating templates from then directing our teams to only use Guides.

    Is the issue actually because Guides are V2 editor and Dialog is V1 editor? If that’s the root of the differences, what aren’t you able to do in V2 that you would need - let’s make sure we get your request understood so that there aren’t feature gaps when V1 eventually (I assume) is replaced for Dialogue also.

    Also, I am interested in your usage of Dialogue so I can understand if I am missing something :)

    A big part of it is that it is visually inconsistent with our other engagements, and we want to provide a cohesive experience for our users.

    The majority of our engagements right now are Dialogues that are part of adoption or upgrade campaigns -- where the CTA button does link to a page elsewhere (in the product, to upgrade, etc.)

    But we do have occasional announcements and situations where the CTA is just a close button, and currently there is no way to set that close button to do so without refreshing the page.
