Developers love Markdown, and our developer community members ask if they can have a text-editing mode in our community where they can type Markdown. Would that be possible? It will for sure help increase the engagement from developers. :pray:

Hi @Anitahg, thank you for submitting this idea! I’ll mark it open so you can collect votes :)

As a workaround, you can try to achieve this using third party scripts (under Customization > Third-party Scripts) for example with the library https://marked.js.org/.

Hi, do we have any updates on this issue? Our developers are increasingly frustrated with how the platform displays code in poor quality. As a result, most developers are choosing to write their code outside the community. Implementing Markdown would significantly improve this situation and encourage our developers to engage with the community. @olimarrio @Joris

Hi @janina.woita , is there an update on this? This is also relevant to our developer community.

Thank you,
Lina

Thanks for your continued patience on this one!

Markdown support for developer communities is something we're aware of and want to address. We're keeping this open and on our radar, and we'll update this thread when we have more concrete plans to share.

Hi @Larry hope all is well. Any update on when Markdown support will be available? It is really difficult (impossible) to use Hub as the platform for hybrid hackathons/builder events when Markdown is not supported. Am in an event as we speak and the markdown files has to be shared on email or other channels. Thanks,

@olimarrio @gpedenzini

@Anitahg thanks for the context, especially sharing that you're dealing with this right now in a live event. Markdown support is on our roadmap and we're actively working toward it. I don't have a release date to share yet, but I'll update this thread when we have one. Appreciate your patience.

@Larry just adding that this would be a significant enhancement for us as well, since we often have developers talking in our forums. Thanks for being so responsive on this!

@Larry thanks for the quick response! That is encouraging to hear. Completely understand you don't have an exact date yet, but is it realistic for us to expect it within this calendar year? It would really help us plan our upcoming hackathons. Thanks again!

Given we're likely starting in Q4, I can't honestly commit to delivery in this calendar year. It's possible but tight. For your hackathon planning, I'd treat early 2027 as the safe assumption and anything before that as a bonus. I'll post here again when we have a more concrete date we are targeting.
