Create folders in External Actions, allow to search for name, and delete. Overall needs more tools to better manage

External Actions is sorely lacking any organization. I cannot categorize or search by name, making managing difficult to scale. Given SO MANY objects (Success Plans, CTAs, Customer Goals, Timeline…. the list goes on and on) can only be updated via External Actions/ APIs, this should be much easier to manage.

Under each Connector, it would be ideal to create folders. There should be a universal search across any connector setup as well.

I should be able to delete an external action as long as there is no dependency, or at least find some way to indicate it is not active

Example of how messy it gets:

Also, I don’t think you can delete these once you’ve made them (right?), making it that much harder to maintain.

@bradley correct - you cannot delete or mark inactive in anyway. If you make a mistake after you create, it just sits there. You can see I had to rename something “DO NOT USE” which is not ideal

Just noticed you had it in your title too, hah! Not being able to delete though is quite annoying.

I think also, you mention being able to delete them if there are no dependencies - have you seen if they even show up in dependencies? I haven’t seen a category for them so not sure if they show up somewhere already. But if not, I’d certainly want to see that as well.

@bradley nope, there is no way to see if they show up in dependencies. So I cannot go from an External Action and tell if it used anywhere in the system

This is so silly that we can’t delete external actions in-app. Please provide this capability, at the very least for parity across the product.

Agree with all of the above! We are a young org and we have just a few external actions, but I can see this being a problem in the not too distant future.
As Sarah said above et least, it should match rules engine UI (status, filters, folders)

Agreed, product parity is a real thing.

Also, there’s gotta be a way to make these tiles less messy. Maybe use hover text? 🤔

I’m a fan of tooltips, that will get my upvote every time. It's a great way to provide context without cluttering the view!
I wish so much that we had that in Timeline… We are relying on external documentation AND feature jumping for something as simple as explaining what a field entails😓

YES! This would be so great across the product. I’ve started trying to use the description field in all of the new dynamic JO programs, Data Designs / Data Design Templates, datasets within queries, email templates, etc -- and having those descriptions truncated so much is highly limiting. Clicking into the asset just to read the description is not efficient.

I noticed this a few months back when working with external actions for an internal project. Not only were our external action names appearing in a disorganized list, as many have already alluded to in this post, but I also needed to submit a support ticket in order to get any unused external actions deleted without the option to do it myself. It’s not a world ending issue but this would definitely be an admin quality of life enhancement!

This is 100% a product-parity issue. We need to be able to delete things (without a support ticket). 😃
