Hey Everybody,

We're currently conducting a small pilot with Ideation. One of the things we've noticed is that users want to receive updates when the status of an idea has changed. Which makes sense, right? You want to know what's happening with the idea you've voted for. Therefore, It would be great if users would get an e-mail when (a certain) status is reached. How do you guys feel about this?

Greetings,
Thomas

+1000000 for this, I’d really like the ability to send a different set of system emails/templates for Ideas that uses different terminology and potentially different branding.

Updated idea status OpenDelivered (Partially)

As you can see above, we’ve partially delivered this idea by auto-commenting when a moderator changes the status of this idea :)!

However, the email template is not customisable (it’s the same as the reply email). Users are notified if they are subscribed to the idea. At the moment, users are not subscribed to ideas simply by voting for the idea.

I didn’t realize this was the case. This might explain why we have low engagement when we ask questions on ideas that have a lot of votes. Is there an open idea here that I can vote on (I didn’t see anything after searching)? Since there isn’t a way to see who is subscribed to an idea, is the best practice to mention everyone? That doesn’t seem efficient...

From my standpoint, automatically subscribing me to updates when I vote feels intuitive and something expected was happening already. I don’t recall ever clicking the “subscibe” button, in fact, here in the Insided community -- I just assumed I’d received updates when I vote on an idea. Just my $0.02.

Oh no...users aren’t “subscribed” if they vote for an idea? I didn’t understand this functionality. I don’t think this is intuitive or very helpful.
By upvoting, I’m engaging on an idea thread in the same way commenting/replying is engaging. These are users who care about this functionality...how are we to engage with them to solicit feedback or discuss possible variations on the suggested enhancement or notify them of the outcome of the suggestion if they aren’t subscribed to the thread?
Oof.

Since users are now automatically subscribed when they vote on an idea, we’ll be closing this idea! Thanks for your input everyone!
