Delegate Group Admin permissions to manage membership and group home page

Agreed! I have several group owners who only need these group permissions. I don’t have the mod seats to give them all permissions, so I end up approving people for their groups. Seems like this should be able to be done on the front end.

Voted for this idea! Several tools have this functionality to allow for groups to assign group managers, leaders, admins, etc.

Hello everyone, I'm researching a bit more this idea to understand better the needs around the group admin role aka the person to manage the group.

• Who should get this role? ( End users, super users or/and employees with limited access to Control...)

• Which of the below actions would you say a they should do:

1. Create group and edit group details
2. Add, invite, approve users to join the group
3. Create events for group members
4. Highlight topics or external content on the group detail page
5. Notify members of groups of news by email
6. @mention groups members in topics (in the way I mention @Marion Frecaut , I would mention @Groupmembers)
7. Anything else?

• Of these actions, which ones are the most important that they have. Feel free to order them from most important to least important.

Any user should be eligible to be a group admin. In some groups I may have one, in others I may have many.

Order of importance: 2, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 1

For us it’s end-users mostly, top level community members. Sometimes we have several leaders per group.

As for functionalities: 

1. Create group and edit group details - YES
2. Add, invite, approve users to join the group - YES
3. Create events for group members - YES, this is the must for us
4. Highlight topics or external content on the group detail page - YES
5. Notify members of groups of news by email - YES
6. @mention groups members in topics (in the way I mention @Marion Frecaut , I would mention @Groupmembers) YES

Order of importance: 3, 4, 6, 1, 5, 2

As for order of importance: it isn’t that important to have ability for end user to create a group, but to edit its details mostly. In terms of creation it goes to the last place for us

( End users, super users or/and employees with limited access to Control...)  Most important for select Employees and Superusers, or perhaps that there is a custom role “group owner” we could assign people to. I don’t see us needing any to grant this to general end users.

1. Create group and edit group details NO or optional - not bad for Admins / CMs to be a gatekeeper here
2. Add, invite, approve users to join the group YES, essential
3. Create events for group members YES, essential
4. Highlight topics or external content on the group detail page YES, essential

6. @mention groups members in topics (in the way I mention @Marion Frecaut , I would mention @Groupmembers)  YES
7. Anything else?  Ideally create Articles in the group
