Email Alert for Spam

When another Human user ‘Flags a content’ as Spam we have a configurable Email alert

But, Not, when the system itself holds back content it has learnt to identify as (potential) Spam.

The UI warns the member something along the lines of “your post will be reviewed by a moderator before posting”, except that the Moderator is not notified leading to a build up of the queue of Spam-suspected content.

So just like the Moderator is email-notified when another user ‘Flags content as Spam’, they need to be notified when the Akismet auto-immune system kicks in.

Just came to the community to add a similar idea.

I’ll add that an alternative or complementary option would be a webhook for this event. It would allow community managers to trigger emails, slack alerts, or whatever they prefer.

Justification: I had two non-spam posts sitting in the spam filter for more than a week. We don’t get a lot of spam, so i’m not regularly monitoring it. And even with daily moderation, I didn’t notice it.

This is so important to have in our community! We just accidentally stumbled upon our spam where we had posts that were help back by the system that were posted 6 months ago..

We really need at least a webhook option for this.

Use case: highly technical content / developer communities. Replies are much more likely to include terms that include phrases that trigger the spam filter.

For example localh0st creates frequent spam issues for our community.

Solution: Having a webhook or email alert would allow me to see and resolve these not-spam posts much more immediately. Instead, users are getting frustrated that their replies get held in moderation queues and they’re creating duplicate posts as they try again and again to post their reply.
