Events - Enable conversations and discussion for events

This idea would go nicely with this idea: 

Look no further than Linkedin events that are shared into the feed and then comments connect into the event for things like Linkedin Live. 

I’ve tried the existing workaround to create an open thread for the event and embedding it into the event page and it rarely gets any engagement. 

But I am optimistic that commenting on events, plus showing them in the activity feed would be a boost for event visibility and commenting engagement. They’d show in recently active topic feeds like other topics, which 1.) boosts the visibility of the event (!!!!), and 2.) encourages engagement in the comments on the event.

Thanks for sharing @ChristineTT! I totally understand your use case. For context, would you consider Events to be like a topic, that people can reply to? Or would you like people to start new topics within the event, that can have replies? 

Oh great question - I think bare minimum like a topic that people can reply to. Hadn’t thought of the new topics point (that could be interesting because it could mean posting things like “what questions do you have for the moderators”, and then after “what are your takeaways”)

Simpler is likely a better place to start. And it could evolve a bit further based on ideas, votes, usage, etc. 

IMO, the multiple topics related to an event approach creates a hierarchical topic structure that doesn’t exist today, which I presume is more complex to develop (and use!). 

I agree, all of these. Would be nice and usefull.

We have many events per week across different regions, and we’d love to have the option to comment on the event post itself for our community members to meet others who are also attending the same event! 

Now when I have thinking about this more I think it is weird that Event doesnt have commenting option. Separate (related) discussions, they feels separate.

@Sebastian would you have any updates w regards to commenting on Events? :)

Other cool features would be:

• Keyword tagging
• Featuring users (as a standout)
• Feature user event-actions on the timeline: Member A registered for Event xyz on the Community timeline
