Expanded Idea Permissions

Came here to add this idea, but looks like I already have. We haven’t used Ideation in a few years, but have use cases that could bring us back in that direction… but we’d want to start with staff only posts that others could vote on and reply to (not create anew). 

Why are permissions for Ideation different from community categories that allow who can see/create/reply?

This is a valid use case and we will consider it when working on Ideation and Product Updates permissions later this year.

We’re planning to add the Visibility, Create Topic, Create Reply permissions to the Ideation and PU modules - and we will also assess the possibility of conditioning Voting permissions based on roles.

​@hhugo any updates on when we can expect these expanded permissions? The need for this has popped up in again in our org. 

​@kristineo ​@DannyPancratz I’m picking this up from Hugo. We are working on more granular permissions (across the board) in Q1 2026, which will include expanded idea permissions. I don’t have designs just yet, but the goal is you’ll be able to update the permissions in each role to determine what users can see and do!
