I have an idea for a mechanism, that would help decrease spam caused mostly by spambots.
But here’s small background - we’re having a lot of spambots on forums, post multiple threads/post with suspicious/malicious link in there (sometimes, they even try to hide malicious link in a emoji or try to link it to “.” (dot) or other small character, so it’s not noticeable). There’s also more “clever” spambots, that are posting 2-3 legit/good looking posts (to “gain” trust), then they’re starting posting suspicious links.
The mechanism is really simple. For new users (that have less than for eg. 10 or 20 posts - but I’d like to have this option adjustable) link posting is disabled (unless it’s a whitelisted link to Imgur, Youtube, Vimeo for eg.).
Also add another mechanism, to block posts, with less than for eg. 40 characters (but I’d like to see adjustable value), so it’ll filter most “OK”, “i’ve got this..” replies, that spammers mostly using.
