Use case: our Customer Success Managers and TAMs need to be able to follow their customer members and be notified when they have activity in the community.

I saw @DannyPancratz’s thread clarifying the existing functionality of “follow member” and understand that at present it’s only a bookmark.  It would be great to link that feature to something actionable / automated.

Absolutely agree, 100%!  We have some superstar community members, and allowing (and encouraging!) our members to follow them and actually see an activity feed would be very helpful.

As it apparently stands, the ‘follow member’ feature should be named ‘bookmark member’ as it’s not really a true follow.

Thanks for sharing this idea @JKelley.

I see two different use cases based on @mstruening’s additional response:

  • Help CSMs and TAMs get notified about customer activity in the community (curious to know if there’s any more context on this, and what the CSMs will action based on this data / whether every single activity is worth notifying about?).
  • Help members to follow other members and see an activity feedback. Here it seems the need is more around making it easy for end users to find relevant topics based on people they find interesting on the community.

Thanks, @daniel.boon !  For the first bullet, it would be based on the post itself.  If I could receive an email with the post text, and it seemed innocent enough, I wouldn’t necessarily act, though if there seemed to be some heat, or perhaps a note about a new project/initiative, I could engage in the thread and/or with the customer to offer resources/assistance.

We would love to see this feature as we have a few community members who like to complain publicly in our community space. I’d like to be notified when those users post so I can be all over it. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback and the idea! We don't have plans to work on this this year, so we'll be parking this idea for now and will revisit it later.
