I’d like to use the "first name" in system and campaign emails under profile fields opposed to just username just “login information”. Sometimes people’s usernames don’t make the emails feel personalized and like spam or have weird characters and spaces. First name would look much better but it’s not an option.

For emails use the variable "first name" under profile fields opposed to just "username"
But for this you'll need a first name field on users’ profile. I agree though, being able tot add more variables like fields from user profiles would be good.
