When composing an email using the Group Send feature, you are not able to choose to Save As a new template, or Create a new template. You need to go to a different part of the platform to do this.

Please give users the ability to Save As and/or Create New template when they are composing from scratch. This will help our teams scale and improve user experience with the feature.

100%, @sarahmiracle!

Yet another example of #productparity. This functionality is in Data Designer and Dynamic JO queries!

While we all attempt to be forward thinking in our day-to-day, the more friction that exists in these new features that have the potential to be so awesome, the less likely they’ll be adopted by our end users.

Thanks @sarahmiracle for the feedback

The Compose Email widget is designed for drafting emails—selecting recipients, choosing a template, previewing, sending test emails, and so on.
It’s quite similar to the widget we use for Email Assist in Cockpit.

Just wanted to better understand—was there something specific that gave the impression users could create templates from this widget?
Since template creation involves  actions like template formatting, preview, versions and opt-out related details, it’s handled through a separate workflow

@ssamarth Maybe an option could be added to the Compose Email widget linking to the Email Builder section, giving users the ability to open the Email Builder in a new tab, with help text explaining what was required.

I can see a lot of users going to the Compose widget thinking they can create a new template (or clone an existing template and save it for later use), and not being able to do so would be a point of friction.

A very common use case for us (@kim_stone for vis) would be one of our scaled CS emails being created in English, and other regional teams wanting to translate that new template for their customers who wanted to receive emails from them in their preferred language.

The more confusion and roadblocks to creating and saving new templates, the less likely we’ll be able to get our CS teams using these new features.

@ssamarth thanks for the response. I’m challenging Gainsight to think beyond existing functionality and think about how to ultimately improve the user experience.

There’s a lot of other areas of the platform that allow you to Save a configuration that is being created on-the-fly. Even Group Send has this capability in the People widget, allowing you to custom Save a “List” when you manually select certain contacts. Our global filters allow you to “Save” your dashboard filter configuration for future sessions.

There are already siloed experiences across the Gainsight product. I’m not saying we do away with Email Template Builder, but that the platform should save users clicks and time by allowing them to “Save” a template that they may be creating on-the-fly

Or, let’s say their custom editing a template I created for them. Instead of making them manually re-edit it each time with their own voice, they would be able to make some small tweaks and customize their voice, then “Save As” their own personal template.

Just some ideas.
