Have GSIDs function like Salesforce IDs when you search in the URL

Something I’ve been wishing for lately is for Gainsight to function like Salesforce when it comes to searching GSIDs. (i.e. in Salesforce, if you search an 18-digit ID just using your base URL - xxx.lightning.force.com/18-digit ID, it takes you directly to that record, whether it’s a case, opportunity, contact, account, user, etc.)

For example, when I search just the GSID for an individual timeline activity, I should be able to paste it at the end of my org URL (xxx.gainsightcloud.com/GSID) and have it take me directly there. Same with the following:

  • Person GSIDs
  • Company Person GSIDs
  • Company GSIDs - direct to C360
  • Relationship GSIDs - direct to R360
  • CTA GSIDs
  • Success Plan GSIDs
  • User GSIDs

And I’m sure I’m leaving some stuff out. Bonus points if we could figure this out for those of us who login via Salesforce, but I would settle for just seeing this functionality in direct-to-NXT logins. Right now, when I try to search for GSIDs using the method above (xxx.gainsightcloud.com/GSID), I get a 404 error.

Love it… it would make troubleshooting so much easier. Right now I usually have to open 3 or 4 separate report tabs to track down GSIDs in different objects.

Would really like that. Similar to this post I made a couple years ago about being able to just punch in a GSID and find out what it is:

This would be fantastic. Particularly when I’m dealing with CSM requests, and the account name they give me is either:

  • Partial (and there are multiple companies with the name they give me)
  • Acronyms
  • Names don’t match between systems
  • Typed out differently than they appear (spaces or no spaces)

I’m sure the minutes I’ve wasted tracking down some of these accounts have stretched into hours at this point. Being able to just search by the GSID would make these lookups significantly easier if we could just require including the particular ID whenever lists were submitted to our team.
