Ideation: Option to disable voting for Ideation Status

Ideas can have different ideation status that we can define in Control. At least one status in every ideation process is “closed” (or something like that, e.g. “duplicate”), meaning, that an idea - in one way or another - will not be further pursued.

That’s why we propose an option to disable voting for any given ideation status. This way users can’t vote for ideas with this status anymore.

If voting stays enabled, even though an idea is “closed”, it can cause user frustration and can also put unnecessary pressure and additional work on the community team when “closed” ideas still get votes.

I agree with the need for this. If an Idea is a closed topic - i.e. not open to further comments - it’s weird that users can still vote on it.

Lots of votes on this one, it seems. We just closed an idea for the first time (still pretty new to the community thing) and were able to close it for comments but indeed surprised that you could still vote on it. Disabling this would be useful to increase clarity towards customers.

This has been in discovery for over a year. Is there any update on this thread you can provide? We are currently doing an audit of our Idea Exchange and trying to close these duplicate ideas from users voting and commenting on these duplicates.

Thanks for your patience here, and to @KathrynMCarter for the nudge as this one has been sitting too long without an update.

We're actively looking to pull this into development. The ability to configure voting per ideation status so that closed, duplicate, or released ideas stop accumulating votes is a clear quality-of-life improvement for both community teams and members. We'll share a more concrete update here once we have one.
