Improve Filter Admin Experience Across Gainsight

Related products: CS Rules & Permissions

This is sort of two separate ideas but the underlying ask is a better experience for filters in areas like JO queries, rules and, to some extend, reports and dashboards:

  1. Let me re-order filters, please. I know that the advanced logic can be changed (I’ve seen this post too), but if I’ve got A-N filters set up and I want to keep them logically grouped together but realize I forgot one at B, I am almost starting over. Letting admins simply move them around (think show me fields in report builder) would be a big win.
Why? If you’re able to group your filters logically together it makes it easier for you to build, it makes it easier for others to troubleshoot, or just understand what a rule does, and it reduces build/fix time.
  2. Let me change a filter instead of requiring me to delete it and re-add it if I need to change the field. This is already solved in most horizonized areas so hopefully it comes to the rest of the platform, but in combination with the above point, errors in field selection require you to rebuild your whole field set and/or rework possibly very complex logic. Letting admins simply select a different field for filter B instead of deleting it and adding it as M later on would be a big win.
Why? Basically the same reasons as above - it makes managing filters, making changes, troubleshooting etc. easier.

They’re both under the same banner of “improving the admin experience with filters” but they do it in two different ways and having both options would allow admins the most flexibility to make changes much less tedious and audits much more straight forward.

Note: this spans multiple product areas (rules and JO) but I can only put it under one banner so hopefully this comment isn’t siloed to just one team.

Since you can no longer edit posts, I’m adding a comment - the re-ordering would really need to be better than the experience of re-ordering rules in a rule chain or re-organizing a dashboard. Both of those are pretty terrible experiences.
