We’re looking into using putting a “People” related list into the C360, now that Gainsight supports inline editing for Person/Company Person records. We like the inline editing functionality a lot and also like that we can enable that editing on a field-by-field basis.

However, there are some weird inexplicable quirks that are holding us back from rolling this out, all of which are different than how regular related lists in the Report Builder function, which is frustrating. Here’s a list of some stuff I’ve noticed:

  • Sorting is not sticky. This is probably the most frustrating. I simply want to have the People section sort by name from A-Z every time our CSMs go in there. Can’t do it. It always resets to some random order.
  • Nothing else is sticky either. Unlike Report Builder, I can’t resize the columns and make them sticky. Filters that CSMs add to the report aren’t sticky either, but apparently that’s the case in Report Builder reports too.
  • The Filtering interface is inconsistent. As I’ve pointed in this Community post, this is a constant issue in the product and shows up again here.

  • URLs behave weirdly. In Report Builder, URL fields simply require one click - like you would expect - to take you to the link. In the People section, there’s weird intermediate step that makes no sense (see gif).
