Is it possible to get an email notification sent to a user if their post has been moved/merged?
This would avoid the moderator having to comment on the post and tag the user, which makes it look like the most recent activity on a lot of posts is by moderators.

Merging notifications
We regularly split user comments from a larger topic to a new topic. And occasionally we merge separate topics into larger topics.
It would be very useful to be able to send the comment author and/or topic starter a notification that their message has been moved.
Especially for those that have been split off. We often see that the user does not return because they lose track of where their comment or topic went. When we can, we will tag users, but in our way of moderating, this is not always an option. So, a checkbox such as Julian mentioned above would be very helpful.
Thanks for sharing this idea. How often do you merge the topics ? also for the end user they will have to go through email each time to redirect to the merged one . It is a good idea we will explore for future but for now We would not be able to work on it this year and we will park it for future as we collect more feedbacks and comments.
